Sound of Silence Series book one: Spencer’s Story

Author Taylor Dean has done a wonderful job of fulfilling a girl’s dream of showing what first love can be. Spencer has never felt love for anyone she has ever dated, then again, she hasn’t really dated. We find Spencer in a car with her “boyfriend” driving through Texas in the most uncomfortable situation anyone can happen to be in- those moments that you know exactly that you dislike, no scratch that, hate the person that you are supposedly in a relationship with. Finn is a jerk, the worst of what a man should be, selfish, uncaring and out for only one thing— yup, that thing no girl is going to give up until they are “in love, betrothed and married”. Finn ends up throwing Spencer out of his car in the middle of know where and then the adventure begins.

Stone Silence is the perfect format for a Hallmark movie, a girl lost, on the brink of crashing, the lost hope of never finding the love of your life or, as Spencer’s mom calls it that “Great big beautiful Love” happening upon an unexpected man, a lost relationship broken-hearted in much need of a good woman to help him and in return he helps her.

I’ve read these kinds of books before, and yet… Stone Silence is that kind of book and then isn’t. Every girl will want their own Stony, their own house in the middle of nowhere, their own mother-in-law and sister-in-law that treats you like a gem. This is what all women want, this is what Spencer might get, if only the path goes the way she wants. Let me tell you, it doesn’t, it leaves you frustrated, wanting to yell at the book and stop reading. Read, I tell you, continue reading.

This book is clean, it is romantic and it is a good book to read when you have all the cares in the world and need something light-hearted and an easy read.

I gave this book 3 out of 5 as I didn’t quite meet my high standards. Although, I do feel it is a good read. I’m a little picky I guess.  Enjoy reading, Stone Silence. I’m told you should read the next two books in the series too, they carry on with the hidden stories from other characters you meet in Stone Silence.
